The Community Tree Resources Program (Level One) encourages cities to develop an ongoing tree improvement program which, according to Community Forestry standards, qualifies them for Tree City USA designation.
ELIGIBLE PROJECTS
 | Planting of all new, healthy nursery tree and shrub stock. |
 | Replacement of city street trees. |
 | New plantings of city street trees. |
 | Tree plantings on city-owned parcels. |
SPONSORS SHALL:
 | Establish a legally constituted tree board, such as a town board. |
 | Conduct an inventory and access the current public trees. |
 | Develop a community tree plan which must be approved by District Forester or NRD. |
 | Develop an annual work plan, budget and tree ordinances. |

FUNDS AVAILABLE
The NRD will provide financial assistance on a per-capita basis. The maximum contribution shall be $1.00 per capita, up to $5,000, with a minimum contribution of $200 to assist communities with populations less than 200. This initial funding assistance shall be available for two consecutive years only.
