The Natural Resources District's operations are funded by a variety of sources, including: sale of conservation trees and services, assessment projects (self-supporting rural water systems), state and federal cost-sharing for projects and programs, and various grant programs. The primary source of funds however, are local property taxes. The Districts have authority to levy up to 4.5 cents per $100.00 of assessed property valuation for its operations plus 1.0 cents per $100 for groundwater management activities. The FY 2017 levy is 1.7706 cents per $100 valuation. The total FY 2017 budget is $3,419,176 and requires $1,652,803 in local property taxes.
